+ 5 to Dexterity- Tudor Corset [Part One]
So this was my big sewing project for 2011 which has not been finished yet and its now 2012 and its still only 85% done. Why? Mostly because I never really worked on it for long periods of time and I had to start and stop my progress as a collected materials for it. My most recent reason for stopping my work on it is the fact that my sewing machine is currently MIA as it broke down when I was working on an earbud case. I digress. This project was originally started because I just wanted to try making a corset as I had never really made one before that required more then 6 pieces of boning. Now I am going to insert my disclaimer right here. I realize this is in no way historical accurate. 1. Its a commercial pattern and 2. I love sewing with my machine/dont have the time to do ever by hand. Maybe one day but not anytime soon. ANYWAYS, the pattern has given me some difficulties. I had to stop a lot to ponder the instructions as they were not always the easy to understand. (Another reason why it has taken me so long to complete this.) And sometimes when I would finally realize what I was suppose to be doing I felt like kicking myself since they step wasn’t so hard after all. A fair amount of hand sewing has gone into the finishing the seams. Its actually pretty therapeutic to hand sew after a stressful day at school.
Now some people might be wondering why the Assassin’s Creed tag was added to this post. Well until I start working on next corset (which I will be drafting myself from scratch) this one will be the one I wear under some of my up and coming AC costumes. Why? It achieves the shape I want. I realize they from different time periods but the shape is still essentially the same since you want more of a cylinder then an hour glass shape. (Or at least that is what I remember reading.)

So ya. That’s pretty much it for now. Hopefully I will get my machine back next week so I can finally finish this bad boy off.
